Pillow saga continues …

6 OCT ’16 UPDATE:

As per Nancy Bailey’s comment below (6 Oct ’16), CFFC (Canadian Food for Children) is NOT accepting pillows.

I will strike that info from this post, to avoid any further confusion.

An update on the acceptability of pillows filled with milkbag snippets.

It now seems that there are indeed some places that will take them. So here’s what I know so far:

  • Anything going via Anne Downey in Lindsay — no pillows, please.
  • Nancy Bailey from the Cobourg area sent me a message in late August, saying the following:Hello Christina          FYI

When I called CFFC, they told me the pillows made
with the ends of plastic bags was acceptable. This
             was a few months ago.
             Has it changed.

  • Further to the above, Carol Carman of Helping Hands Cobourg wrote to say that mats and pillows could be dropped off in her area, at the ReMax office on Elgin Street, Cobourg. Just be sure to tell the receptionist “that Michael Perry has given the OK.”

In answer to Nancy’s query about whether the policy had changed — I haven’t been in touch with CFFC (Canadian Food For Children) in Mississauga myself so I’d say go with what she’s heard.

So — the long and short of it seems to be that pillows stuffed with snippets are being accepted in some places. As all our stuff is going to CFFC, then pillows should be ok. So it then remains a personal choice, whether you want to make them or not.

  1. Perfect! I mean — `perfect’ in the sense that it’s good to get solid info. So it’s looking more and more as though pillows stuffed with snippets are just not the way to go. Again, i thank you for the comment and clarification.

We are NOT accepting pillows at Remax.
We only needed a few for a woman who takes them to Toronto.
She has more than she needs

CFFC is Not taking the pillows Now. I guess when the material rots , they end up with all the plastic ends laying around.

We are giving ours to the homeless inToronto and Kingston.

Perhaps call some of your shelters or the police to see if they can use the pillows
