LDH garden beds: 2015-2016 (Revisiting the Long Bed)

This school year saw no activity until spring 2016.

This year’s focus will return to the long bed (see Bed 8, below), to weed, plant Stella d’Oro daylilies, and mulch the whole thing. The evergreen shrubs are not in good shape but will remain, as place-holders, until we can address their replacements.

Status reports

These are dated summaries of work done in the various (numbered) beds, accompanied, on occasion, by pictures.

The 9 beds on the main/south side of the school have been assigned numbers, with a list of tasks for each.

Click on the link to each bed for a detailed description of its current status, its main plants and other features, work to be done, and then some commentary on its potential. Each description has photos (from 13 May, 2016) of most if not all points raised in its text.

Note that, other than Beds 7 and 8, all beds have at least some plants, so care is needed not to step on them while weeding. Beds 5, 6, and 9 have been mulched in past years and are now in `maintenance mode’.
